In the centre of Kurtinig, we roll across the stone-paved village square to our gravel home base in the south of South Tyrol: the Hotel Teutschhaus. Now in its 4th generation of management, the Teutsch family welcomes us warmly at reception. Host Walter Teutsch is himself an enthusiastic racing cyclist and gravel biker - so it's easy to pick up a few insider tips. But then it's off on tour with guide Roberto Mich. A passionate cyclist for 35 years, he is a professional racing cyclist and tour guide and has already won more than ten championship titles. Together they cycle along the South Tyrolean Wine Road through the Adige Valley, through the Trudner Horn Nature Park or to the Montiggl Lakes.

But passion at the Hotel Teutschhaus is not just for bikes. Walter Teutsch has a second passion: his 4 hectares of sustainably cultivated fruit and vineyards. In the historic wine cellar, guests come together for an informal wine tasting and then round off the day in the nostalgic Tyrolean parlour with traditional South Tyrolean specialities and suitable wine recommendations.

As a certified hiking guide and mountain bike guide, as well as a Bike Wine Ambassador, Apple Ambassador and graduate of the South Tyrolean Bike Guide Basic Training Course, he brings both technical know-how and regional background knowledge to the table.

Thanks to his deep connection to South Tyrol and his home region around Salurn, he knows the trails, landscapes and insider tips that make every ride a safe and unforgettable experience.
