Lago Santo - Hornalm
Gravel bike tour from Kurtinig a.d.W. (BZ) / South Tyrol / Italy
Lago Santo - Hornalm
This challenging gravel bike tour takes you 67 km and around 1,930 metres in altitude to the Trudner Horn Nature Park. From the Hotel Teutschhaus, you first cycle along the Adige Valley cycle path to Salurn. From here, you first follow the road to Buchholz until you turn off onto a side road and continue steadily uphill along side roads and gravel paths through deciduous and coniferous forests. The first highlight is the idyllic Lago Santo, which invites you to take a short break. The "Rifugio Potzmauer" with its simple South Tyrolean/Trentino cuisine is a good place to stop for lunch before reaching the highest point of the tour, the Hornalm. The descent leads through mixed forests via Mazzon back to the valley. Treat yourself to an ice cream under the arcades of Neumarkt before cycling back to Kurtinig via the Etschtal cycle path. The tour requires a very good level of fitness and safe cycling behaviour on loose surfaces.
