Dusty backroads, endless hop fields and the green foothills of the Alps. The Slovenia Gravel Experience is more than a cycling event – it’s a carefully curated journey for riders who don’t just ride gravel, but live it.
The event
Four days of guided gravel riding in the heart of Slovenia. Smoothly organised, socially paced and rich in experiences. From flowing gravel roads and hidden backcountry paths to culinary stops among hop fields – this event blends riding, culture and hospitality.
You’ll ride in small groups, guided by experienced locals, with plenty of time for breaks, conversations and those moments you don’t rush past. Together with Gravelbike Holidays, Europe’s leading brand in gravel tourism, and GRVL, the premium apparel brand for gravel riders, we’re creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable debut event in Slovenia. The programme
Day 1 – Arrival & Hop Fields Gravel Ride
An easy introduction ride through the Slovenia.
- 36 km
- 270 m elevation
- Gravel through hop fields towards Žalec (shortened version)
After arrival, we spin the legs, collect our first gravel kilometres and settle into the rhythm of the event.
Day 2 – Čemšenik & Vrhe
A true local gravel classic with panoramic views.
- 43 km
- 1,000 m elevation
- Picnic lunch included
Rolling climbs, scenic ridges and a special lunch in nature make this day one of the highlights.
Day 3 – Menina Planina
The queen stage of the event.
- 66 km
- 2,100 m elevation (easier routes also available)
Long climbs, alpine scenery and a true sense of achievement. Challenging, rewarding and unforgettable.
Basecamp: Hotel Grof ****
The family-run Hotel Grof is the official basecamp of the event. A true cycling hotel with everything gravel riders need – from secure bike storage to wellness facilities.
