Mendel Pass
This challenging tour stretches over 91.7 km with 2,300 metres of ascent. It first takes you southwards along the Adige Valley cycle path and then steadily uphill along side roads and the cycle path through the Non Valley. Once you have passed Lago di Coredo and Lago di Tavon, you will soon reach the first highlight of this tour, the Santuario di San Romedio. After a further 20 kilometres uphill, you reach Malga Romeno. Now the tour only leads downhill. Stop at the Mendola Pass and enjoy the fantastic view. Pass under the route of the Mendel railway and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Kaltern and the lowlands as you reach Altenburg and Tramin via Söll. Cycle along the old connecting path from Tramin to Kurtatsch through the vineyards and enjoy the marvellous views of the lowlands. Along the wine route you pass the wine village of Margreid before returning to the Hotel Teutschhaus. The route combines gravel paths with tarmac sections and requires a very good level of fitness and gravel biking experience.
