Engetal-Vilstal circuit
The trail leads directly from the hotel through Tannheim. Past the parish church of St Nicholas, under the main road and to Zöblen. Cross the main road with subway, then along the Vils. From there, continue to Schattwald. At the Kappl district, turn right uphill and then left again. The path on the north side of the Vils gorge leads directly over the Kappeler Berg to the Kalbelehof Alpe mountain hut. Along the Vils, through the Vils valley, you cross the state border to Pfronten. The route leads past the Vils valley sawmill, an old mill with a museum and a park through Pfronten. Shortly before the finish, cross the road into the Tannheimer Tal valley once, via a gravel path that leads through a beautiful forest. Passing the "Gasthaus Fallmühle" through the Engetal valley to Grän, you return to the starting point. If you are in good shape, you can complete the 35 kilometre route in around 02:30 hours. Due to the length of the route and the metres of elevation gain, a very good level of fitness is required.
