Plamort armoured barrier
This challenging gravel tour starts at the Alpen-Comfort-Hotel Central in Nauders and leads through varied terrain to the historic Plamort armoured barrier. This impressive fortification of the Alpine Wall was once built to secure South Tyrol militarily, but was never actively used. From here, there is a spectacular view of Lake Reschen with its famous church tower of Alt-Graun, one of the most photographed motifs in the region. The route continues along the reservoir, past the imposing dam wall, with fascinating views of the Ortler, South Tyrol's highest peak. The route is mostly on paved paths, but is physically challenging due to its length and the metres in altitude. After a varied descent, the route leads back to Nauders, which is picturesquely situated in a border triangle.
