Gravel bike holiday in the Three Peaks - Dolomites

The striking mountain massif in the Sesto Dolomites is one of the most sought-after summit destinations in the Alps. Whether for alpinists, road bikers or gravel bikers. Here you can experience the Alps from their most impressive side. Nowhere else will you find so many natural wonders in such a small space. The imposing peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage Three Peaks - Dolomites meet South Tyrolean flair and historic national borders. Whether on the mountain or in the valley - the three rugged mountain obelisks are the omnipresent backdrop.

You can't escape the Three Peaks

The region around the Three Peaks - Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site is particularly easy to discover off the beaten track. One of the most beautiful gravel tours in the region leads from Dobbiaco southwards through the Dolomite landscape to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Gentle climbs and wide gravel paths lead past Lake Dürensee and onto the picturesque old railway line. As you roll along the gravel track in a relaxed manner, you can fully enjoy the peaks between the railway tunnels of yesteryear. On the gravel tour to Prato Piazza, however, the old tarmac and coarse gravel quickly become sweat-inducing. Once you reach the high plateau, you are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama and local specialities, as is customary in South Tyrol. Barley soup and Kaiserschmarrn pancakes are served at the Plätzwiese mountain inn. A gravel tour through the Silvestertal valley to the Pragser Wildsee lake is also one of the highlights. Hard-core bikers will get their money's worth from the Silvesteralm: continue along the old military path to Marchkinkele or along a singletrail-like path into the valley to Silian.

Highlights for your gravel bike holiday

  • Old railway line from Dobbiaco to Cortina d'Ampezzo

  • On the Prato Piazza, climbs are rewarded with fantastic views.
