This tour takes you into the valley and although there are not many kilometres and metres of climbing, the tour is a tough one. The outward journey to Sand in Taufers in particular is on a hiking trail that also has some technical sections. Alternatively, you can cycle along the cycle path to Uttenheim and then join the track. Sand in Taufers is the main town in the Tauferer Ahrntal valley and has lots of nice shops and bars and a castle! Taufers Castle is one of the largest and best-preserved castles in the Alps and is well worth a visit. Of course, you can continue cycling from Sand or follow the track and make a detour to the Reinbach waterfalls. You can take your bike with you as far as the 1st waterfall, then continue on foot to the 3rd waterfall. There is also a flyline on the way back for those who are lazy on foot! Head back out of the valley along country lanes and cycle paths. Make sure you stop for an aperitivo in the Thara Lounge and then head back to the Hotel Innerhofer or Gisse Zwölf in Gais without climbing any metres in altitude.
