This tour was already our highlight in the 80s, back then with the MTB hardtail! Now this tour is experiencing a revival with gravel. No technical difficulties, but lots of metres and kilometres and a great mix of cycle paths, biotope paths, gravel and asphalt roads. The scenery is a dream. First through the Antholz Valley past the biathlon stadium and the lake up to the Staller Sattel with its beautiful Obersee lake. When cycling uphill, you should also keep to the traffic lights. The descent from the saddle down to Erlsbach in Austria is a pleasure. Then begins the long, breathtaking ascent into the Defreggental valley and over the Jagdhausalpe - also known as "Little Tibet". The landscape here is like something from another world. The gravel road continues to the Klammljoch, the border crossing to South Tyrol, and then downhill past the Knutten Alm to the mountain village of Rein. From here, there is a rapid descent on the tarmac road down to Sand in Taufers and on the cycle path back to the Hotel Innerhofer or Gisse Zwölf in Gais.
