Gravel bike holiday in the Ore Mountains

The name alone sounds like an adventure. After all, the Ore Mountains are synonymous with treasure hunters, miners and bikers. The low mountain range in the German state of Saxony, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2019, surprises with geological and historical highlights. The unique cultural landscape on the German-Czech border serves gravel bikers a varied menu on a metal platter. Welcome to the gravel EldoRADo!

Pure summit bliss in the Ore Mountains

The Stoneman in the west, the Blockline in the east, idyllic and relaxed gravel biking in the valley or rather high up for summit happiness: gravel bikers are spoilt for choice in the Ore Mountains. Once you start pedalling, you ride through deep, cool forests, wide fields and picturesque villages. The slopes of the Ore Mountains with peaks between 600 and 1,200 metres above sea level are perfect for gravel biking with their gentle and crisp climbs and descents as well as many forest and meadow paths.

Fancy your own personal off-road adventure away from the tarmac roads? Then take on the gravel cracker on your next gravel holiday in the Ore Mountains. Gravel enjoyment awaits on four very different routes in the footsteps of the traditional nutcracker. On your own without a stopwatch in mind, you can ride over 6 mountains around Seiffen, up crisp climbs, on the old railway line to the Kahleberg or to the highest peak in the Ore Mountains: the Fichtelberg.

Highlights for your gravel bike holiday

  • Gravel Cracker: pure Ore Mountain gravel enjoyment on the trail of the Nutcracker in Seiffen
  • Blockline: endless freedom on the Blockline trails from Holzhau along the Czech border
  • On the old railway line up the Kahleberg near Altenberg
